Terry Nolan commits to Chattanooga
Baltimore United guard Terry Nolan, a senior guard for Mount Carmel High School ended his recruitment Saturday night with a verbal commitment to the University of Tennesee at Chattanooga. Nolan credits newly hired Mocs Assistant Coach Kevin Easley for making a nice first impression.
“Since coach (Easley) got the job at Chattanooga, his first day there, he actually offered me,” Nolan explained. “That showed a lot.”
Nolan saw a serious uptick in his recruitment this summer as the third leading scorer for his team on the UAA Circuit. After landing double-digit Division One scholarship offers within a two-month period, Nolan trimmed his list to six. The Mocs played host to Nolan for an official visit to the campus from August 26-28.
“When I got on campus it was like home. Immediately, they showed a lot of love,” said Nolan. “They tended to me, cared for me. They always looked out. Asked about my family. They made it more than about basketball.”
Nolan mentioned a few other factors in his decision. He wanted to attend a good business school, and have the chance to contribute right away as a freshman while playing for a young coach with a winning program. Newly hired Head Coach Matt McCall, who led the Mocs to a school-record 29 wins in his first campaign, was exactly the type of coach Nolan was looking to play for.
“They see me playing valuable minutes at multiple positions,” Nolan said about his potential role with the team. “Coming in and getting starter minutes if not starting right away. 1, 2 or 3.”
Nolan is the first player to commit to Chattanooga in 2017. What can fans expect from him and the program in the years to come?
“From day 1 I can bring leadership, energy,” Nolan stated. “I feel as though in four years there we will make the tournament and hopefully win our conference all four years.”
