Coaches will ask their players for “110 percent effort” constantly, but most of the time will not receive that extreme production. However for Zach Watson (2017), 110 percent effort is reality, and the Dublin Jerome product takes pride in that as it is strongest characteristic whenever he steps on the hardwood.
“First and foremost, I am one of the hardest workers out there,” Watson said. “I may not be the fastest, or one of the tallest guys, but I will definitely be the one to put in the most effort during the game.”
Watson has a pure set shot from 3-point land and streaks down the court as good as any 2-guard in the 2017 Ohio recruiting class. One trait that stands out for the 6’1 guard is that he makes strong cuts to get himself open when the rock is not in his hands. He has great court vision and knows when to find the open man, which makes him a possible point guard prospect for a collegiate roster.

Dublin Jerome is full of talent, and is looking to prove the doubters wrong this year after falling in the Division one Columbus District two finals to Upper Arlington, 64-51. In the 2015-2016 season, the Celtics finished 22-4.
“We have high expectations, and a target on our backs,” Watson said. “We don’t want to take a step back from last year…we want to be competitors.”
Watson is without a doubt one of the premier players to come out of the Columbus area. 270 Hoops has him ranked No. 18 for the class of 2017, and that recognition has certainly helped him with his college recruitment thus far.
The senior does not have a preference when it comes to the location of his destination after his last season at Dublin Jerome, however academics are an important quality in his choice.
Schools from the University Athletic Conference have shown interest in Watson, such as Carnegie Melon, Emory, NYU and University of Chicago. Along with those programs, Watson visited a good amount of the Ivy League schools, as well as attending Columbia’s elite camp.
With academics on the top of Watson’s list, he sure has a set of programs that will fit his priority.
Keep an eye out for Zach Watson in the 2016-2017 season.
