“I had a very busy summer filled with a ton of basketball,” Arend told PHD.
“I was involved in many different basketball workouts and hit the gym a lot in my free time. Playing with the guys on my AAU team (BBA Force) helped me grow better as a player.”
Arend gave his team 15 points, five boards, and three assists a game last season shooting 42 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the foul line. The numbers will improve but wins and more wins is what he cares about.
“For this basketball season our team’s goals are to win our district, region, and ultimately the state championship which I believe we have a good shot to do,” Sam said.
“Our team has been to many team camps and did many workouts together.”
Sam had several memorable moments in some of the state’s biggest events last season.
“As a junior one of my top moments was playing in the Mike Miller Classic against the very talented out of state schools. It was fun to play against them and new opponents. Another was our comeback victory in the DSU classic.”
At some point Arend will make a decision on college and college basketball. With Sam it’s early in the process.
“At this early point I have received some letters so far, I have received some from Morningside, Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, and Jamestown.”
