“I will play anywhere as long as I can go to school for free. To me is doesn’t really matter whether it’s D1, D2, D3, JuCo, it’s just about the opportunity to play basketball for a free education,” said Silas, who mentioned some D1 schools that have been in light contact with him so far.
“Schools that are probably interested have been Oakland, Eastern Michigan, Cleveland State. If I had a chance to go to one of them is would probably be Oakland. I’ve gotten letters and camp invites, all types of stuff.”
He added: “Recruitment is a big priority for me this year. But also I just want to get my coach a championship and get Detroit Cass back on the map.”
The quick combo guard emphasized that leadership will be a top priority for him this winter — not just on the court, but in the hallways too.
“I believe I’ve become a way better leader, and I have a fast first step. And this year I’m really going to be focused on getting my teammates involved, and just picking them up if we’re not playing good,” said Silas.
“As a junior I was a leader, but I need to pick it up a bit this year as a senior — not just on the court but off the court too and, in class and in the hallways. And my role is to just be a leader, that’s my main focus this year.”
