“I have to take up that leadership role. Fill his spot, and get W’s this year,” Edmond stated.
During his junior year, Edmond showed that he is more than capable of carrying a team. As the team’s leading scorer with a 21 point-per-game average, Edmond eclipsed the 30 point mark 6 times. Edmond recorded 83 made threes, and even scored 40 in a game during his junior campaign.
“I’m mainly a scoring point guard. I like to shoot threes. I now got that role of going to the basket and attacking,” said Edmond about his game. “I tried to change my game into more of a point guard role. I used to be all about scoring but now it’s get that extra person involved and if they don’t have anything kick it back and then I can just go to work.”
Edmond received a recent division two scholarship offer from Wheeling Jesuit University. Randolph Macon, Lynchburg, and Christopher Newport are among the division three programs recruiting Edmond hardest. An underrated playmaker who can certainly set up teammates with crisp passes, Edmond is currently focused on improving his left hand, and bulking up in the weight room.
“Just my attitude. They like the way I always have a smile on my face. I’m always talking. That’s just me,” Edmond said when asked what coaches who are recruiting him say they admire about him. “They like my ability to score. They just like my all around game.”
Edmond is a strong student who carries a 3.3 GPA in the classroom. Edmond reflected upon some determining factors for his college decision.
“A good environment. where it’s all about family and relationships. Not just a school where it’s strictly about basketball. But the coach also cares about the players,” said Edmond. “Just a place where it’s good academically and basketball as well.”
Edmond has plans to visit Christopher Newport and St. Mary’s College among other schools this fall. What can coaches who are recruiting Edmond expect from him at the next level?
“A lot of improvement. I’m definitely going to give em what i give now at the high school level,” he explained. “The ability to score the ball. My vision on the court. Just being a dominant player.”
