Lang is the conference’s returning leading scorer after a season in which he averaged 11.3 points per game while shooting better than 50 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent at the line. He can also dish it and play some ‘D’ while also helping out on the boards. He’ll be a problem for CIC-Northern squads as a senior.
First team (2015-16 stats in parentheses)
2017 Kyle Lang, 5’11, G Mason City (11.3 ppg, 51.5 FG%, 35.7 3FG%, 77.3 FT%, 2.9 rpg, 58 asts, 29 stls)
Lang does a little bit of everything well, and Mason City will need him if it wants to improve off last year’s performance.
2018 Joe Evans, 6’3, F, Ames (9.6 ppg, 52.7 FG%, 4.1 rpg)
Evans often came off the bench for the Little Cyclones last year depsite perhaps being their best player. He’s undersized at forward, but an absolute load to deal with due to his strength and motor.
2018 Luke Appel, 6’5, SG, Marshalltown (9.6 ppg, 42.9 FG%, 36.8 3FG%, 5.9 rpg)
Appel will be a huge piece of the puzzle for the Bobcats this year, and we’re guessing he’ll be up to the task after a strong sophomore season.
2017 Clayton Solomon, 6’4, G/F, Fort Dodge (10.7ppg, 4.9 rpg, 41 asts, 27 stls, 19 blks)
A top-30 player in his class, Solomon put up solid numbers offensively last year while still being among the league leaders in blocks and steals.
2018 Malcolm Clayton, 5’11, G, Fort Dodge (9.3 ppg, 46.0 FG%, 36.6 3FG%, 88.9 FT%, 4.3 rpg, 83 asts, 22 stls)
A do-everything point guard, Clayton will likely average more than 10 points per game this season while also leading the conference in assists for a second-straight season.
Second team (2015-16 stats in parentheses)
2017 Eric Styer, 6’4, G, Ames (9.2 ppg, 43.8 FG%, 36.7 3FG%, 2.7 rpg)
2017 Chuol Chuol, 6’3, G, Ames (7.2 ppg, 49.6 FG%, 4.6 rpg, 24 stls)
2017 Mac Skogen, 6’, G, Mason City (6.2 ppg, 43.2 FG%, 48.4 3FG%, 3.8 rpg, 39 asts, 26 stls)
2017 Carter Mumm, 6’, G, Ames (80 asts, 20 stls)
2018 Trey Mosley, 5’8, G, Fort Dodge (4.3 ppg)
