Prep Hoops Ohio Top 250 Expo: Top Big Men
Whether it was through the occasional feed into the post, running the floor, or winning the offensive glass, the following big men made their presence felt during last weekend’s Expo.
Myles Martinez (2019) 6’6” — Centennial
This kid has serious upside. Given his mobility and flashes of ball-handling, Martinez could very well develop into more of wing player. The sophomore has great fluidity with his body movements. The 6’6” prospect is included here (as a “Big Man”) because he was most effective as a scorer on post moves. Great feet.
Devonte Ross (2017) 6’8” — Lakota West
Ross works hard on the glass. Given his speed and leaping ability, he will contribute on a college team with his rebounding right away. Most likely a Division II prospect.
Kameron Thurmond (2017) 6’9” — Franklin Monroe
Sarrick Sampson (2018) 6’4” — Alliance
At 6’4”, Sampson is a big dude! However, it doesn’t limit his ability to run the floor — matter of fact, he was beating defenders back for easy buckets all day. Very agile in the post, creating chances for little hook shots which Sampson easily converted. A matchup problem because of his body.
Anthony Tyree (2017) 6’4” — Grove City
When it comes to his combination of height and skills, Tyree is clearly one of those “tweener” prospects. While he scores primarily via post moves, he has the athleticism to guard 1-4. If he can add some bulk, which could happen once on-campus, Tyree should draw attention of D-III programs as a senior.
