We’ll go through a few of those happenings and remind you that there is an event in New Orleans at Xavier University this weekend. Feel free to get out and check some local talent out.
There have been multiple commitments by top players in the state over the past week. On September 16, Caleb Starks (6’3 G/F, Lafayette Christian) committed to Northwestern State. He’ll bring some shooting and plenty of defense to the program.
Four days later, Romin Williams (5’10 PG, Country Day) committed to Emory College. Williams had D1 looks and offers but chose to focus on academics in college. He’ll be a big difference maker at Emory as lead guard who can do anything you’d ask your point guard to do.
On the 21st, just a day Williams committed, another top 10 prospect in the state Josh Anderson (6’5 G, Madison Prep) made the decision to commit to Western Kentucky where he’ll join Mitchell Robinson. Anderson proved his ability to slide to either guard position while scoring and defending at a high level.
That means the top uncommitted prospect in the state is Brandon Rachal (6’6 G, Natchitoches Central). He took an official visit to LSU this past weekend and plans to visit Texas on October 14th. His recruitment should wrap up before the early signing period.
Meanwhile, New Orleans Wolves AAU players have been taking visits by the weekend. Last weekend, Latrell Jones (6’2 SG, Archbishop Shaw) and Ryghe Lyons (6’8 F, John Curtis) took unofficial visits to Nicholls State. Richmond University came in to see Lyons last week as well and he’ll be visiting Loyola – New Orleans this weekend.
Their teammates Raylon Hardy (6’0 PG, Hahnville) and Mike Young (6’8 C, Salmen) will be visiting Centenary College on October 15th.
