C Francis Okoro (Normal West)
Okoro established himself not only as the clear #1 player in 2019, but as one of the best prospects regardless of class in the state. At 6’8” and 225 pounds he is built like a college basketball player already with incredible raw strength. He might have been the best pure rebounder at the Nike Elite 100 Camp for the best young prospects in the country. The Normal West sophomore was an absolute BEAST on the boards. He rebounds both in and out of his area using his quickness and athleticism high pointing balls and throwing strong outlet passes. As a scorer he hits the offensive glass extremely hard for second chance points. Also utilizes his quickness inside to finish with a variety of hooks and dunks. His motor and desire to want to be great is in a top tier. On occasion can hit a face up 15-18 foot jumper, but the release is rather slow and got blocked several times. Defensively Okoro is a major shot blocking presence. Top 10 prospect nationally and the no doubt top prospect in 2019 in Illinois.
PF EJ Liddell (Belleville West)
Liddell debuts as one of the premier post prospects in the state’s 2019 class. The 6’7” power forward was part of a balanced Eagles 15U squad where one player doesn’t dominate. There was no questioning he was the best player on the floor when we saw him this spring/summer. The Belleville West rising sophomore has a great frame that should continue to fill out. Solid athlete. He plays physical down low in the paint. Creates deep post position and scores with quick moves in the paint. Also flashes some handles attacking from the mid-post area. Defensively he stands out with his ability to move laterally as well as block shots.
C Ciaran Brayboy (New Trier)
Brayboy is a post in the class of 2019 with a lot of potential. The New Trier 6’8” center has legit size, strength, and length for the five position. He plays physical with his back to the basket and rebounds around his area. Was impressed with his development and efficiency on the offensive end scoring on the interior as the summer went along. Rim protector on the defensive end. Definitely one to watch going forward!
C Taeyon Neal (Providence St. Mel)
Neal who hails from Providence St. Mel has great size, strength, and length. The young post has a frame that projects long term. Plus shot blocker that is a presence in the lane on the defensive end. Keeps the ball high in the post, but is fairly raw as a post scorer. Passes well on the block when the double comes as well as throwing outlets. Potential D1 prospect.
PF Spencer Boehm (New Trier)
Boehm is a skilled and tough four man that is crafty on the interior shooting a high percentage from the field. Don’t underestimate his athleticism though as he can get up above the rim for slams as well. He has mobility around the hoop which allows him to be a solid rebounder in and out of his area. Range stretches out to the perimeter where he can knock down a jump shot. Intriguing post to track.
PF Karl Wright (Springfield Lanphier)
Wright is one to watch going forward! The 2019 prospect is super bouncy with a great body and frame to continue to grow as well as gain more strength. He is quick off the ground and high points rebounds. Runs the floor tremendously well. Still getting a feel for scoring in the half court, but shows a lot of raw tools you have to like.
