Below we take closer look at some of the biggest standouts at each position. All stats referenced were provided courtesy of Legit Sport Stats.
Top Big Man | Terrance Lewis (National Christian ’17)
Terrance Lewis displayed a ton of versatility on both ends of the court, as he led the event in both scoring and rebounding. The high energy forward demonstrated the ability to create space off the dribble and hit shots from the perimeter while controlling the boards to the tune of 10 rebounds per contest. Lewis found a way to produce consistently on the offensive end, where he averaged 14.7 points per game.
Top Wing | Kiyon Boyd (H.D. Woodson ’18)
Kiyon Boyd showed why he is considered one of the top wings in the country. The burly junior scored it with ease from all areas of the floor. Boyd’s 12 point-per-game average was good enough to place him second among all in attendance.
Top Scoring Guard | Keleaf Tate (Cesar Chavez ’17)
Talented senior Keleaf Tate finished third in the event in scoring with a 10 point-per-game average. Tate showcased a smooth and confident handle, the ability to finish at odd angles, and a quick and confident release on his jump shot.
Top Distributor | Evan Buckley
In a camp setting, most players think it’s difficult to stand out if you’re not scoring the ball. As the leading assist man at DMVelite 80, Evan Buckley stood with his ability to set the table for others. The skilled, heady floor general exhibited good paint getting ability and dished out nearly five assists per contest.
Top Combo Guard | Denmark Slay
Denmark Slay got the job done on both ends of the floor in Bowie. Slay finished fifth in assists, fifth in steals, while ranking among the top 12 scorers in the event. The tough lead guard plays at a quick pace, works extremely hard, and makes solid decisions.
Top 3 Point Shooter | Jamal Washington
Jamal Washington drilled a camp-high 7 of 12 three point attempts. His 58% shooting average ranked him fifth among all. Washington thrived as a result of his ability to effectively move without the ball. Washington demonstrated good balance and a quick release on his jump shot.
Top Pest | Xavier Johnson
Xavier Johnson finished tied for second in steals with 1.3 per contest. Johnson wins this award as a result of his willingness to consistently pick up full court along with his adept ability to sell contact. Johnson has long arms, quick feet, and very good instincts.
