Baker is a long time Minnesota Fury player that helped them win 35 games and finish as SPTS runners-up to the Omaha Crusaders. The Fury experience was good for Baker.
“I really enjoyed playing out in Las Vegas, Kansas City and Pittsburgh against some of the top teams in the country,” Baker told NHR. “It was a very high level of play that I don’t play against much at my high school so being able to play against those quality of players helped me in every way.
“Playing against guys that were more athletic than me helped me improve in all aspects of the game whether it was getting open for a shot, finishing at the rim, or playing defense.”
Now Baker turns his attention to his final high school season. Oakley put up 21.3 points per game as a junior pushing the Trojans to 18 wins. Baker will once again be the leader.
“Most of the guys at my high school play football so getting in the weight room together is what we’ll do,” Oakley explained. “I will go in early before school to work on different parts of my game with one of my high school teammates who doesn’t play football.
“We have a great group and I am really looking forward to my final high school season.”
Baker has recently grabbed a couple NSIC offers in addition to the MIAC interest he is receiving.
“I’m hearing the most from Minot State, Bemidji State, St. John’s, and St. Olaf right now,” Baker said. “Minot State and Bemidji State both just offered recently.
“I don’t have any more college visits planned at this point. I hope to make my decision before high school season starts at the latest.”
