Top 250 Expo: Sioux Falls Preview 1
The Top 250 Expo will hit several communities all around the country and it will be in Sioux Falls on September 24th at Augustana College. What talent will be there? PHD clues you in on what players have registered so far and who college coaches at the D2, D3, and NAIA level will be watching a month from now.
2017
One thing that many should get the chance to see is fantastic guard play. The biggest name at the event right now is Tea Area guard Ethan Freidel who hopes to carry on his fantastic summer at the Expo. Several schools will be in attendance to see his program.
There are several point guards that will go head to head and we will get a chance to see who shines, who defends, who leads, and who may struggle. Wil Johnson from Harrisburg, Carson Coulter from Lincoln, the high energy Cody Robertson from GFRR who looks to keep making strides after a great ECI Select season, and Mark Toe also of GFRR, and he may be one of the elite ball pressure defenders in the entire Midwest.
Versatility is the word to describe the wings at the PHD top 250 Expo. Joey Messler of SF O’Gorman can do some of everything. How will he do against the smaller wings and the bigger forwards is what we will watch. Also you of course have Freidel, Brayden Uses Arrow from Solen who was fantastic for ECI Select, Matt Thompson also from ECI (West Fargo) will be there, and Sioux Falls area players Alex Fiegen and Simon Higgason will also be playing.
Up front Carter Kosiak will have several schools watching him close. He’s a 6-foot-7 post from O’Gorman and a key piece to what the Knights will do this year.
2018
The 2018 group will surely give Kosiak some players to battle against. Burke Central 6-foot-8 monster Josh Kihle will bring his low post fight to the event and he’s also a guy coaches will trail as he’s considered one of the best bigs in North Dakota’s 2018 class if not the best. Six-foot-6 Owen Wheeler of Minot and Emmanuel Akot (6-foot-7) of SF Washington are also there to compete inside.
The 2018 wings at this event are something we are very excited about. North Dakota’s top 2018 prospect right now is likely Jordan Polynice and he will be playing at Augustana. Also present will be a pair of two of the best players in South Dakota’s junior class which would be Trevor Olson from Sioux Valley and Koln Oppold of Sioux Falls Christian. Oppold will be making a push to be a top five player in his class. Ryan Wieneke of Adrian, Minnesota (played AAU with a Dakota team) will also be at the event.
2019
The most recent 2019 to sign up is Mitchell Larson of Fargo Davies who played very well for the D-17s at the 17U level this year. Six-foot-6 Nate Brecht from Lincoln will also be there, Adam Erickson and Nick Hoyt of Harrisburg will also be playing, as well numerous Sioux Falls area 2019s. The 2019 seems to have a couple new sign-ups every day.
