They posted a 37-7 overall record this summer, including a 17-1 July. This run was capped off by back-to-back championships at the adidas All In Classic (Cincinnati) and the adidas Uprising Summer Championships (Las Vegas).
Coach Dan Urban couldn’t have been happier with the team’s chemistry.
“Every single kid got along really, really well … In July we played so well together, and everyone played for each other,” Urban said.
When it was all said and done, OBC 2018 finished #4 in the country, according to Indivisible Hoops.
The success is in large part to nationally regarded recruits Dwayne Cohill and Robby Carmody. However, it requires more than two players to bring home first place trophies.
On a twelve-man roster, everyone wasn’t able to log a ton of minutes. Nonetheless, playing on one of the country’s best teams brings exposure and interest for everyone involved.
Dwayne Cohill (2018), 6’3” G, Holy Name High School
Offers from Ohio State, Xavier, Toledo, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Northwestern, Penn State, UNLV, West Virginia, Duquesne (PA), and Stony Brook (NY).
Other interest from Michigan, Iowa, Texas, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Depaul.
Cohill will visit Notre Dame in August. The combo guard is also looking to set visit dates for Northwestern, Xavier, Duquesne, Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, and Texas.
“The best basketball I’ve ever seen him play was this month of July,” Coach Urban said, who has been around Cohill since the sixth grade.
Robby Carmody (2018), 6’4” G/W, Mars Area High School (PA)
Offers from Cincinnati, Xavier, Louisville, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Penn State, Stanford, Pittsburg, Penn State, Purdue, Rice, and Duquense (PA).
Other interest from Michigan, Syracuse, Villanova, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.
ESPN’s 47th ranked prospect in the class of 2018 hopes to take a few visits in the coming weeks, but hasn’t decided to which schools.
Dale Bonner (2018), 6’2” G, Shaker Heights
Offer from Northwood.

Other interest from Youngstown State, Fairmont State (WV), and UNC Asheville.
Bonner took an unofficial visit to Youngstown State last week, which he said went well. Also, the guard will go to a camp at Fairmont State this week.
Coach Urban told PHO that Bonner jumped on some new radars this summer. UNC Asheville reached out last week via phone call for the first time.
Christian Guess (2018), 6’5” W/G, Shaker Heights
Offers from Miami (OH) and Kent State.
Other interest from Xavier, Youngstown State, Penn State, UNLV, Stony Brook (NY), Tulsa, Detroit Mercy, and Notre Dame.
Hopeful to take fall visits to Xavier, Miami (OH), and Kent State.
Some of the top Midwest programs are beginning to pay attention to Guess after a break-out summer with OBC.
He is transferring to Shaker Heights from Glenville High School.
Jerry/Gene Higgins (2018), 5’9” G, VASJ High School
Offer from Fairmont State (WV).
Other interest from Akron, St. Francis University (PA), Army West Point, and Wheeling Jesuit (WV).
Isaiah Speelman (2018), 6’6” W/F, Hilliard Bradley
Offer from Northwood.
Other interest from Findlay, Ashland, Kent State, Iowa, Yale, Princeton, IUPUI, University of Detroit, and UNC Asheville.
“Isaiah Speelman is another one that has blown up here, kind of recently. Lot of schools have called about him,” Coach Urban said.
Tyreke Smith (2018), 6’4” F/W, Cleveland Heights
Offer from Air Force.
Other interest from Akron, Kent State, IUPUI, Stony Brook (NY), and UNC Asheville.
Smith’s offer sheet for football includes power programs like Michigan State, Penn State, Cincinnati, amongst others. Even though he hasn’t played a down of football since the sixth grade, Smith’s size and agility demands attention.
On an OBC team that often played small-ball, Smith’s physicality in the paint was a crucial factor. Coach Urban also added that Smith’s jumper has seen a steady improvement.
Noah Berry (2018), 6’7” W/F, The Wellington School
Interest from Ashland and Toledo.
Berry plans to visit both schools this Fall.
Coryon Rice (2018), 6’0” G, Stow Munroe Falls
Offer from Northwood (MI).

Interest from Findlay, West Virginia. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Penn University, American, IUPUI, High Point (NC), and Westminster (PA).
Coach Urban: “Perfect role player for us. He didn’t play a lot of high level AAU, so he was learning still.”
