The 6-foot-3 wing has been working hard to transition from a post to a guard, and college coaches are starting to take notice of the talented junior.
“I got some interest from Western Kentucky after I went to their team camp. I’ve talked to Kentucky Wesleyan, Austin Peay and then SIU-E coach has texted me,” said Potter.
After playing small forward and power forward most of his career, Potter has recently made the switch to wing. And says he’d like to play guard at the next level.
“I shoot the ball well around the perimeter and I can get to the hole whenever. And I love rebounding,” said Potter.
“Right now I’m more of a three or a four, but I’ve realized that at the next level — if I want to play in college — I’ll need to be a guard. So I’m really working on my ball-handling right now.”
He recently wrapped up his 16U offseason with Western Kentucky Elite, and says that he gained some valuable experience on the wing with that squad.
“They had me playing on the wing, and my role was to rebound, and if I was open shoot it. And then I had to keep my teammates positive and not get mad, just keep the game alive,” said Potter, who is eager to get his junior season underway.
“Last year I wasn’t really prepared, it was really hectic for me. And this year I’m prepared, and my teammates know what I’m capable of.”
