Continue ReadingDespite no offers coming his way yet, 2018 Wilson (DC) SG Ricky Lindo has plenty of Division I programs looking his way following his summer with District Basketball Club.
The 6-6 prospect tells PHM the schools interested include VMI, Colgate, Rice, St. Mary’s, College of Charleston, Yale, and Brown
The bonus for Lindo is his ability and experience at two positions: both guard and forward.
During his last high school season with Wilson (DC), he saw most of his playing time at guard in the middle of a rough season.
“It was an up and down season. We didn’t have a lot of chemistry built up, so we suffered a couple close game losses, especially at the end of the season,” said Lindo.
His role for the team was put simply by the player: “just to score, rebound, and play defense;” This can be seen in his stats when he started the season 91% from the free throw line and averaging 9 PPG to start off.
Now in the summer with District Basketball Club, Lindo sees more time at forward, specifically power forward, where his focus is more about rebounding and playing aggressively.
While he tells PHM that he enjoys playing guard more, the attributes of having some experience playing down low should blend over into his guard game especially with rebounds.
When asked what he believes differs him from the rest in his prospect class, Lindo continues to draw back to driving to the basket.
“Ability to rebound, and score off the dribble, especially when I have a larger defender on me,” said the 6-6 guard, who points to his best trait being his ability to attack off the dribble.
With plenty of time to go before heading to college, Lindo sees an opportunity to improve his ‘shooting’ to strengthen his game on the court even more.
When asked about his preferred shot, the Wilson (DC) player points back to attacking the rim which continues to be his mind set on the court.
With so many D-1 schools interested, an offer should come down the pipeline soon headed into his next high school season.
