This AAU season Fox was a major part of Minnesota Heat Vang winning 41 games of the 54 they played.
“I made a lot of really good relationships during AAU with my own teammates, other players that I played against, and coaches,” Parker said. “The top experiences would have to be playing at some of these really big tournaments and having a lot of success.”
“Playing against some of the best around the country has prepared me to play at a very high level of competition and have success finding ways to score or make a pass for a teammate to score. I think it improved my defense/rebounding.”
“When you’re going up against really good competition you need to be very solid on defense and finish the play by grabbing rebounds and transitioning up the court. So overall I think I had a lot of success and improve my game this past spring/summer.”
Parker joins high school and Minnesota Heat teammate Shayne Frost as the top returning players for the Zephyrs. The Zephyrs have to replace role players Joe Rock, Jacob Martin, and Lucas Buller who were the next three scoring options but guys like Andy Voen, Lincoln Rock, and Will Tuttle seem up to the task as they were solid contributors last year.
Parker hopes to lead the off-season training as he has big plans for himself and others in this regard.
“The next three months are very important to me to take my game to the next level,” Fox said. “I am looking to improve and maintain a very consistent jumpshot, and get stronger, so I am hard to stop around the rim.”
“Working on strength with my trainer Carson Fossum to work on bounce, balance, lateral movement, and explosion. In the gym I have been working with “Hoops and Christ” (Chauncee), and on my own to improve ball handling, making skilled moves and jump shot.”
“Also, I will be trying to put up 500-1,000 shots a day. Just putting in time in the gym/weight room to get better. As a team, we have a lot of football players on our basketball team, but we will be having open gyms, and skill development. We are looking forward to a big season and we think we are going to have a lot of success.”
There is also choosing a college basketball program to consider. Parker is maybe the most recruited NAIA player I’ve ever seen in Minnesota.
“I have received offers from 7 NAIA schools: Briar Cliff, Morningside, Valley City State, William Pen, Waldorf, Marian, and Dakota State,” said Fox.
“At the D1 level Air Force is very active along with receiving mail and texts/calls from some low major division one schools. Winona State, Concordia-St.Paul, Minot St., Malone, Northern St., Minnesota-Crookston, Sioux Falls and a few others are very active. Along with other NAIA’s.”
“I have also heard from St.Thomas, St.Olaf, St.Johns, Bethel and UW-Eau Claire for D3’s. I don’t think I will be making a decision anytime soon. I’m looking to stay in contact with coaches, make visits, and find the right school for me.”
He will take visits but at the moment he hasn’t set anything for the coming months.
“As of right now I don’t have anything planned,” Parker said. “I have visited two of the seven schools that have offered me. I would like to go visit the five others to find out if I could see myself there.”
“I also want take a couple officials when the time comes to decide which school I will attend. I want to make the right choice for myself and family. Somewhere where I will be getting a great education, surrounded by good people, and fortunate to play the game I love for another 4 years.”
