Continue ReadingThe Fall is upon us and that means it is time to see some of the top prospects in the country start to trim down their lists and possibly get ready to make commitments. In Indiana, the top guy is Kris Wilkes and he just cut his list down to five this past weekend.
Indiana, Illinois, UCLA, Xavier, and UConn are the leaders in the clubhouse for the 6’7 small forward’s services. Just recently, Wilkes had a group of 11 schools that he was interested in and he cut a few pretty prominent programs this time around including local program Butler and his newest offer from North Carolina.
Per Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star, Wilkes will plan on taking official visits to all five programs on the list. He hasn’t yet visited UCLA or UConn but Indiana and Xavier are the two he has been to the most and seem like the likeliest of destinations at this point.
Indiana has always done well recruiting Indiana kids and has the longest standing relationship with Wilkes. However, Xavier is as strong in Indiana as any out-of-state program in the country. Guys like Dee Davis and Trevon Bluiett have been some of the most recent players for their program.
His AAU teammate Paul Scruggs is also down to just a few programs and he has four in common with Wilkes in Indiana, Illinois, UConn, and Xavier. There isn’t a package deal on the table but there could be the potential to be teammates again at the next level.
There is no timeline for a commitment right now but official visits and dates are the next item to be brought up for Wilkes.
