The Titans lost Jarvis Thomas to transfer and Elijah Johnson to graduation and that’s 20 points and a dozen boards a contest that must be filled. Walker brings back his dozen points a night (second only to Jordan Horn last year) and his 6-7 boards.
This past summer at the Breakdown State Tournament Joevon went at some of the state’s best size and produced on several post isolations. He also played very well when we saw him in the post for Powerhouse Minnesota.
Walker was a key player in the Powerhouse MN 27-14 record. Walker enjoyed his time with the team and definitely liked the travel.
“The best part of AAU was experiencing new places like New York, Georgia, Las Vegas, etc,” Walker said. “Playing against top talent in the nation like Cody Riley, and playing well against him (is a great memory).”
Walker returns to the Titans with Horn, 4th leading scorer Noah Whalen (10 a game), 6th leading scorer Jordan Thompson, and others. The Titans won 24 games last year and want to match that. Walker has plans to get himself ready for a memorable final year.
“I plan to drop some weight for myself, and everyone on my team needs to be in the gym and improving something they didn’t have last season,” Joevon said. “I want our team to be a bunch of dogs on the court.”
Walker is playing football this year and he’s enjoyed it so far.
“Football is going good, its a new experience and different type of atmosphere,” Walker said. “I mostly plan on just playing basketball in college but I’m still open to football if it comes down to it.”
And who has shown interest so far?
“There’s a few colleges showing interest but Trinidad State in Colorado is definitely showing most interest. It’s a division one junior college. And I may have more schools but only my coaches know that.
“I don’t have any visits planned right now but I would like to visit Trinidad State and Allen Community College in Kansas.”
