The Minnesota Warriors won 40 plus games and had several banner victories against local and national teams.
“I’d say the best Warriors experiences were just traveling to different tournaments to play some of the best teams in each state,” said Hird. “It was fun playing different competition and gave me experience seeing a lot of different types of players and teams.”
Then there is the Jefferson Jaguar season where last winter the team won 17 games and bring back their top three guys: Tyler Riemersma, Jack Tillotson, and of course Hird. Joe scored a dozen a game for the Jags last winter.
What is Hird doing to prep for his final year? For one he’s a top Jaguar football player but he will also get in some hoops skill work.
“Over the next three months I’m going to be really busy with football, but it will definitely keep me in shape and will also get me in the weight room quite a bit,” said Hird.
“I’ll also get in the gym pretty often to work on my shot and ball handling. For other guys on the team I’ll just be encouraging them to get shots up as well and get in the weight room.”
Hird and his excellent shooter touch is hearing from several colleges.
“Right now I’m being contacted by Jamestown, Valley City State, Briar Cliff, Upper Iowa, SD School of Mines, St. Johns, and St. Olaf,” Joe said.
One visit is planned at this point.
“The only visit I have planned right now is at Jamestown September 10th but I’m also looking to visit St. Johns for a football game as of now,” Joe said.
