This summer, Thompson stood out as a starter for Spiece Indy Heat 2018, playing a year up. He handled himself well and drew rave reviews. Now, he’s looking ahead to this fall and getting some visits set up to a pair of schools that have reached out. Thompson will head to Purdue on September 24th and Iowa on October 1st.
“It feels really good,” Thompson said of receiving this level of interest this early in his career. “I know it’s early in my recruiting process but to have big schools showing interest early is a really good sign. There’s still a lot of work to do but it’s a good feeling.”
Purdue knows who the 6’0 guard is. His brother, P.J. Thompson, is currently the starting point guard for the Boilermakers. He’s already been on campus a few time for his brother and for himself. This upcoming visit, is purely a recruiting trip. Iowa is the newest school to show interest. They got to see him this summer and were impressed with his ability to play at such a high level while playing up a year.
“They saw me play in July and really liked how I played and how they are really interested in me,” Thompson said of Iowa. “They are really looking forward to getting to know me.”
There is quite a bit to like from the Zionsville guard. He’s heady and about as confident as they come. He’s a true point guard that can handle any situation that comes his way on top of the fact that he has a lot of offense in his game. He’s a capable shooter from distance and is really good in transition. He is one of the most advanced prospects in the state for 2019, maybe the most and still has a ton of room to grow.
