This team is well put together and full of players who should have a lot of success in the coming years if they stay together. Guys like Mason Gillis and Andrew Owens lead the way but you could pick out any guy on this list and he would have been deemed to had a good, successful summer. I loved the play of the guards, of which they have many. McCall Ray and Luke Heady were great at times and I saw Nate Soltis and Trenton Kelly step up from the wing spot. They won a few tournaments and always seemed to compete at a high level.
Best Player: The best player of this group is Mason Gillis. He has a lot of upside and is the biggest impact player now. He’s a 6’5 post with an aggressive nature and a knack for rebounding and finishing in and around the rim. Not many have the motor he has and as his body develops, he should see his production continue to rise. He has the chance to be a dominant player in the state from the low post, the type of kid we don’t get very often.
Players To Watch: In the next six months, the guy that should be the biggest riser will be Andrew Owens. How he fits into Carmel’s plans this winter is still up in the air but because he does nearly everything on the floor average or better, and the fact that he is 6’4, he can fill a lot of different roles. He should be in line for a chance to impact Carmel this year with a little bit of a rebuild on the way.
