The three-headed threat with Kevin Easley, DeAvion Washington, and Antwaan Cushingberry were really good this year and DeAvion really stepped up his game this year. Easley continued his moved towards more of a wing and Cushingberry did what he does every single game, win. They had a pretty solid year and were able to play in some bigger tournaments along the way. Adding in guys like Pierce Kiesler and Tony Rogers from Kentucky later in the year helped to add some of that quality depth, as did Christian Harvey from Richmond.
Best Player: Kevin Easley is still this team’s best player but he was pushed this season by DeAvion Washington who took the biggest strides on the team. Kevin has improved his ball handling a little bit as well as his shooting touch although it was more streaky than usually. He’s at a bit of a crossroads where he should take a big step forward in his game and it should come this winter. He showed a bit of that this summer and was able to work through some of the issues. Now, he should be starting to put it all together.
Players To Watch: Not that nobody knows who he is but DeAvion Washington could be ready to bump up a level as soon as tomorrow. The 6’2 scoring threat from Terre Haute South is really good but showed flashes against high level competition and seemed to get college coaches talking. He’s a prototypical two-guard but that isn’t a bad thing because every program needs one. Washington has been solid but his aggressiveness has seemed to have an uptick and that could lead to some really great things.
