Hutchison has always spent his off-season high school years with D1 Minnesota and he gave the team his consistent defensive work and perimeter touch once again.
“This past AAU season was a great experience and one to remember,” Jack said. “We had an elite team, being consistently ranked in the top ten in the nation, and a team consisting of eight very good players all having D1 offers.
“On top of that, all eight players were great teammates and it was awesome seeing us develop and grow as a unit. As a team, my most memorable experiences were in the month of July where we made it to Final 4 of the Adidas Championships, then played in the Finals of the Creators Cup in Las Vegas, and finished the AAU season in the Showcase game in Las Vegas versus a very talented Team Loaded on ESPNU.
“It was a great way to end my AAU career, by having one of my best and most efficient games on a national stage versus top competition (Hutchison made five jumpers and scored a dozen points).
“Personally, this AAU season helped me develop my game in many ways. First, any time eight talented players come together as one, with only one ball and limited minutes available, all are required to sacrifice in various ways, whether it be minutes, shots, touches or opportunities.
“Putting the team first was a priority for me, and one that will certainly help me throughout my basketball career. Second, from a skill perspective, I was able to further develop and improve the consistency and quickness of my shot, my pull up jumper, and my on ball defense. I became a quicker, stronger and more confident player this summer and I can’t wait to start my senior season at Maple Grove.”
The Crimson made the state tournament last season but lost in round one. Now the obvious goal is moving past the first round and competing for championship gold.
“After the AAU season ended I took about a week off to give my body a rest, and now I am ready to go full steam ahead in preparing for my senior season,” Hutchison told NHR.
“As a team, we had a great summer season of working out, and look to continue that in coming weeks once school starts through open gyms, unofficial workouts and Fall Leagues.
“Individually, I plan to use the next three months as an opportunity to really better my game through intensely working on my speed and strength, and continuing to strengthen my pull up game, shot quickness and ball handling, all areas that will be very important for me at the next level in college.”
Hutchison has been offered by Montana State and Sam Houston State in the past. Where does his future of college basketball stand now?
“At this point I am hearing the most from Montana State, who has offered me, Holy Cross and Portland State, and also some other great programs that I am really excited about,” said Hutchison.
“I took a few unofficial visits this past summer which allowed me to get a better look at some programs and universities. I am enjoying the process and look forward to the future. I am lining up some visits in the coming months to the schools that are recruiting me where I have interest.”
Hutchison gave Maple Grove 10.9 points per game last year as a junior.
