There were a ton of players that impressed us. Here are just a few of the class of 2017 prospects from out-of-state that really stuck out in our minds.
Peyton Broughton (Hoop Dreams – KY)
The 6’5″ shooting guard is packed with energy. He is a really good attacker and plays well off the ball finding his way to open areas on the floor. He’ll be the man for North Laurel once again this season. Broughton prides himself on being an all-around player who hustles on defense and crashes the boards. He is a Division-I player who is earning offers regularly.
Geo Baker (NH-DC Blue Devils – NH)
Scouts came to watch him in every one of his games and for good reason. At 6’3″, Baker can flat out shoot. The two-guard makes it look easy as he glides to the basket for floaters. His lengthy arms help him get around defenders and dish out passes. He’s an unselfish player who will fit right in at Divison-I school and earn minutes from the start.
Matt Lewis (Baltimore Elite – MD)
At 6’5″, 180 lbs, Lewis still has room to add more muscle. He is a strong player with range and the ability to use his burst to his advantage. He’s earned offers from smaller schools thus far but should earn mid-major offers soon as his high school season starts at Bishop O’Connell.
Jalek Felton (Team Winston – NC)
The nephew of Los Angeles Clippers point guard Raymond Felton, shooting guard Jalek Felton has all the tools to be a legit superstar. The North Carolina commit does all the little things right. He hustles on both ends of the floor and can turn on the next level switch when he needs to.
Malik Williams (Legit Basketball – IN)
There’s a reason the 6’11” power forward has offers from major programs including Louisville, Michigan State, Illinois and Indiana. Williams can distribute the ball just as well as knock down jumpers. His strength is something that will need to improve at the next level so he can attack down low at a higher success rate. He’s in for a big senior season at Nelson Snider.
Rayshaun Hammonds (Alabama Challenge – AL)
This kid plays with such poise, it is very impressive. He’s grown from 6’8″ to 6’10” just over the last few months. He plays at Norcross High in Georgia, but has taken over the show for the Alabama Challenge on the EYBL circuit. Hammonds will be playing at a solid Division-I program come next year with Alabama, Texas, Memphis and Tennessee just some of his many offers already.
