A St. Louis native himself, Loos dipped back into the St. Louis area once again as he received a verbal commitment from Class of 2017 forward Richard Henderson of Pattonville High.
The 6’5″ Henderson is one of the top athletes in the 2017 class. He is an above the rim performer who can score and rebound and a high level. He liked the coaching staff and proximity to home as big reasons for his final choice.
“I love the campus,” Henderson said. “I had a great relationship with the coaches and it’s close to home.”
Henderson spent the grassroots season playing with the St. Louis Eagles 17U team that qualified for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. As a junior at Pattonille, Henderson averaged 16 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 62 percent from the field. He is also one of the state’s most prodigious dunkers.
Austin Peay is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Governors made a stunning run to the NCAA Tournament in 2016 after winning the OVC postseason tournament as the No. 9 seed. Austin Peay has a number of players from the St. Louis area on the roster, including guards Josh Robinson (St. Mary’s), Zach Glotta (Fort Zumwalt North) and Stephen Harris (Webster Groves).
