Continue ReadingIndianapolis Tindley guard Eric Hunter Jr. has been one of the bright spots in the area for quite a while. As a class of 2018 prospect, he’s still got a little while until he makes his decision. Today, that decision just got a lot more difficult as the hometown Butler Bulldogs joined the fray as they sent out an offer to the 6’2 combo guard.
“I was and am still pretty excited about it,” Hunter said of his Butler offer. “Especially coming off of a good week in Vegas.”
Hunter has been on campus many times to Butler and is pretty comfortable with the coaching staff. Now, with an offer in hand, he will look at them in a little bit different light as an option to play college basketball. This is going to be a contender for his services when it comes to making a decision.
“They are high on my list, one of the ones I was hoping for. It’s pretty close right now,” Eric said of his relationship with Butler. “I talk with Coach Pedon atleast once a week.”
Butler joins a long list of interested parties. IPFW, Ball State, Toledo, Xavier, IUPUI, and Kent State are the other schools that have offered to this point, but they aren’t the only schools showing interest. Hunter said that Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Purdue, UW-Milwaukee, and Ohio State are also calling and keeping in touch.
His stock really seemed to hit it’s peak the last two weeks. In Indianapolis during the second evaluation period, Hunter was stellar with his play for Team Harris 2018. He showed a new burst of athleticism and aggressiveness. His efficiency seemed to be improved as well. College coaches are recruiting Eric as a combo guard at this point. He has plenty of size and scoring ability to play off the ball but in the right system, he can really be effective on the ball as well. This was seen this past weekend in Vegas by quite a few college programs.
“Vegas went really well as a team,” Eric said of the final week of AAU. “We went 5-1, beat a top EYBL team in CP3. Personally, I think I did really well. I scored the ball well and made plays for my teammates.”
Next up for Eric Hunter is a visit to West Virginia. He will head out East on August 6th for an overnight trip.
