“I have three (Division 1) offers right now from North Dakota, Air Force, Army,” the 2017 prospect told PHI last week at NY2LA’s Summer Jam, “and one D2 from Upper Iowa.
“I played really good at Drake’s elite camp, and they talked to me a little bit. Northwestern State talks to me a lot.”
Air Force and Army certainly present unique situations for its student-athletes, but that’s something that intrigues Kinrade at this time.
“I am interested in serving,” he said, “so I think that could be a good possibility.”
When evaluating any school, Kinrade is being sure to look beyond the court.
“You’ll play basketball no matter where you go,” he said, “but you’ll have a job a lot longer in life than you’ll play basketball.”
The 6-foot-6 Kinrade is looking to expand his game on the defensive end after averaging 18.8 points per game last season as a junior.
“Definitely defending guards more,” he said. “I can defend the big guys, but I’ll be more versatile if I can defending anybody.”
After being the offensive focal point for Maquoketa, Kinrade is playing a different role for the Barnstormers this summer.
“I’ve been playing good, I think,” he said. “Rebounding a lot. There’s a lot of talent on this team, so I don’t score a ton. That’s not my role. My role on this team is to be an energy guy, get boards and use my athleticism to help the team.”
