His quick reflexes make him a real threat to invade passing lanes quickly. He uses both hands well as a ballhandler and is capable of pulling up off the dribble from 3-point range. Lane is such a strong and explosive athlete that he’s really a force on the glass, where he competes – and wins – against much bigger players.
2017 Douglas Wilson, 6’6, G/F, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines Hoover): Wilson did a really nice job of esatblishing deep post position early, and then was effective using it, scoring on multiple possessions while getting fouled on others. Defensively, he had a number of good blocks from the weakside and his steal on the perimeter and subsequent dunk tied the game with 15 seconds left in an eventual overtime win for Kingdom Hoops.
2017 Ben Juhl, 5’10, G, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines Christian): Did well in transition, exhibiting good body control to avoid an offensive foul and then finishing through contact. He’s got a nice feel for making some creative paces in tight spaces.
2017 Trey Buchanan, 6’0, G, Kingdom Hoops (United Township, IL): The word that came to mind watching Buchanan was “fearless.” He was hard-charging and unafraid to challenge bigger players at the rim, and it worked wonders for Kingdom. His defense on the perimeter turned a dire situation to Kingdom’s favor late.
2017 Charley Crowley, 6’8, F/C, Kingdom Hoops (WDM Valley): Protected the rim extremely well, both as a primary and secondary defenders. His block of a layup with 2 seconds left in a tie game potentially preserved an eventual Kingdom OT win.
2017 Drew Maschoff, 6’0, PG< Kingdom Hoops (Ankeny): Maschoff did a nice job of orchestrating the Kingdom offense from the point guard spot. Also showed he can go off ball and drill shots from 3-point range in catch-and-shoot situations.
