2018 Blake Brinkmeyer, 6’7, G/F, Kingdom Hoops (WDM Valley): Brinkmeyer is a player I suspect will make a significant jump from 48th in our currently 2018 rankings after his big spring and summer. In Milwaukee, he showed off a ton of skill and a knack for the game. North Dakota was the first team to offer, and I wouldn’t be surprise if a line begins to form once July finishes.
2017 Austin Phyfe, 6’9, F/C, Barnstormers (Waverly-Shell Rock): The Northern Iowa commit was superb Thursday afternoon. Just a beast. He uses his strength so well to create space in the post, and he doesn’t need a ton of it to get his effective baby hook off. That physicality also serves him well on the glass.
2017 Collin Hill, 6’5, G, All Iowa Attack (South Hamilton): Hill has really come a long way in the year since a broken leg cost him his sophomore season. He’s gain a lot of strength, and looks more athletic than he was before the injury. He was very good at attacking the rim and finishing around length.
2018 Devonte Thedford, 6’4, G, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines Hoover): Thedford was quiet early, but really came on strong late for Kingdom. He had a beauty of a scooping layup to defeat oncoming help, and canned a 3 from the corner. Defensively, he was the terror for the opposition he usually is.
2017 Devontae Lane, 6’2, G, Barnstormers (Iowa City West): It’s always fun to watch Lane because he plays so hard all the time. His speed and athleticism can be overwhelming. He’s just a bully out there at times, to the benefit of his team.
