2018 Dok Dok, 6’0, G, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines): Extremely aggressive on both ends of the floor. Sometimes his shot selection was similarly aggressive, which led to mixed results.
2018 VJ Wilmington, 6’1, G, Quad City Elite (Davenport North): Wilmington did a really nice job of directing traffic from the point guard position, namely with quick and strong decision making, whether in the halfcourt or in transition. He showed a nice little mid-range game off the dribble and the ability to finish at the rim through contact.
2018 Brett Erwin, 6’7, F, Quad City Elite (Davenport West): An intriguing big man prospect, Erwin plays with a high motor on both ends of the court. He takes serious effort to run the floor in transition, both going from offense to defense and vice versa.
2018 Bryan Dayman, 6’6, F, Quad City Elite (Pleasant Valley): Dayman has nice size and length for his position, plus he plays hard with a high motor. He always seemed to be in the middle of the action both defensively and on the glass.
2018 Caleb Carius, 6’2, G, Quad City Elite (Pleasant Valley): Carius played with the epitome of hustle and toughness, not afraid to mix it up on the glass with bigs and hitting the floor for loose balls. He plays with a lot of smarts on both ends of the floor.
2018 Blake Brinkmeyer, 6’7, PF, Kingdom Hoops (WDM Valley): Brinkmeyer did not play varsity for Valley last year, but expect him to be a big piece of the puzzle this year as a junior. He’s got a lot of skill and touch offensively in the post to go along with a high motor. He puts his work in early to establish position at the low block, where he has anice array of little hooks and a face up game. His defense is solid and fundamental in the post, which helps him given his currently slight frame.
2018 Devonte Thedford, 6’4, G, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines Hoover): It took Thedford a bit to get in the flow of the game after going off the bench, but once he hit his stride, he impressed. He had a nice little scoop-and-score that beat the oncoming rim protection after beating his man off the dribble. Showed the ability to space the floor with a catch-and-shoot 3, as well as some nice touch and creativity from the mid-range.
2018 Nathan Johnson, 6’5, F, Kingdom Hoops (Waukee): Johnson showed some really nice flashes of post play in the game I watched. He’s very patient once the ball gets to him, bearing down on his defender and then using a little hook over his left shoulder.
