Midwest Summer Slam: Iowa Preview
This weekend, teams from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota will converge on Ames for the summer’s first of three live period events. There likely won’t be a bevy of Division I coaches present like at other premier events around the country — but the lower division coaches will be in the gyms, checking out what will be a hotbed of Division II, Division III and NAIA talent.

Ambition 9th
Key Players
Collin Lister, 6′ G, Kingdom Hoops Red (Carlisle)
Mach Nyaw, 5’11 G, Kingdom Hoops Red (Grand View Christian) — Lengthy and athletic guard who is great at slashing and scoring at the rim, despite his diminutive stature. He transferred from Storm Lake into Grand View Christian, and was a head-turning earlier this spring at Kings of the Court in Des Moines.

Key Players
Trey Hinote, 6′ PG, Cornsharks 15U (Panorama) — He’s perhaps the best player in the 15U field — at least from Iowa — and has emerged as one of 2019s top prospects seemingly out of nowhere this offseason.
Trent Williamson, 6’2 G, Cornsharks 15U (Earlham)
Daires Adems, 5’9 PG, Kingdom Hoops Black (DM East)
Cade Hemaseth, 6’6 F, Iowa Prep (Charles City)
Nick Johnson, 6’4 F, Kingdom Hoops Red (Hoover)
Will Feller, 6’5 PF, Kingdom Hoops Red (DM Lincoln)
Rashuon Ivory, 5’9 PG, Kingdom Hoops Red (Perry)
Rhett Darland, 6’2 G/F, Cornsharks (Clarion-Goldfield)
Brady Kluender, 5’10 PG Cornsharks (Spencer)
Zaine Leedom, 6’4 SF, Iowa Intensity (East Marshall) — Recently we learned that the rangy and skilled wing has transferred from Grinnell to East Marshall. He can beat you in a variety of ways with his diverse skill-set, and should be looked at by Division II coaches.
Garrett Sturtz, 6’1 SG Iowa Intensity (Newton)

Kyle Nevitt, 6’3 SF, Cornsharks (Perry)
Brayden Washington, 6’3 G, Cornsharks (Urbandale)

Ryan Trainer, 5’10 PG, Iowa Prep (West Delaware)
Tristen Kautman, 5’11 PG, Iowa Prep (MFL Mar-Mac)
Tajen Ross, 6’2 G, Kingdom Hoops Red (ADM) — Probably the best Iowan player in the whole tournament. Ross has been playing particularly well of late among Division I athletes in the YMCA Capital City League, and is starting to become a buzz-player among Division II coaches.
Matthew Larson, 6′ G, Kingdom Hoops Red (ADM)
Dariq Myles, 6’3 SF, Kingdom Hoops Red (DM North) — He’s about as versatile a player as there is in this field, and we’ve seen him both get hot from deep and dominate in the paint this offseason. He’s fun watch, and should see a spike in recruitment after this month.
Choul Chuol, 6’4 SF, Kingdom Hoops Red (Ames)
