From United Township just across the Mississippi, Buchanan was the catalyst and beating heart of a Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U squad that took home the crown. He’s got some a real nice handle and can get hot from deep. He’ll likely be a low/mid major point guard in two years.
2017 Jal Bijiek, 6’7 SF, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
He was quiet at times this weekend (still nursing some injuries). But was not quiet when it mattered most in the championship game. The bouncy Des Moines North Polar Bear slammed home four dunks in that game – including a nifty double clutch in transition – igniting his team and the crowd in the process.
2019 Lino Malual, 6’2 G, Kingdom Hoops Elite 15U
He’s a silent assassin, not showy or flashy, but a bouncy sharpshooter that makes an impact in so many ways. He specializes in out-jumping bigger players, and put in several tip-ins from the guard spot. Des Moines North sophomore-to-be is also adept from deep.
2017 Trevor Miller, 6’5 SF, AFES 17U
This Urbandale J-Hawk’s summer continues to go well, and he poured in 25 points in a Silver Bracket title game win over Quad City Soul. He’s s pure shooter from long range and has the size and length the impact the game in variety of ways on both ends of the floor.
2018 Malcolm Clayton, 5’11 PG, AFES 17U
The younger brother of rising star Solomon Clayton, Malcolm is no slouch himself. He’s added weight and absorbs contact well, but is still quick enough to shake defenders and get his own shot. He’s a plus shooter and has some nice handles with good vision. A solid 2018 point guard.
2019 Marcus Edwards, 5’6 PG, Kingdom Hoops Elite 15U
Another Edwards, this younger brother of Khalid (2016) and Sundiata (2017) is emerging as great clutch player for Kingdom Hoops. He hit big shot after big shot late in games all weekend. And though small, he’s a fearless player who backs down from nothing.
2017 Charley Crowley, 6’8 PF, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
He’s become better in almost every conceivable aspect of his game, and his leaping ability has certainly improved. Crowley threw down several dunks this weekend and was well-above the rim. He plays with plenty of desire and heart and could play himself into a low-major Division I offer. He already has one Division II offer.
2017 Lim Chuol, 6’3 G/F, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
The Chariton prospect was not a star for Kingdom Hoops this weekend, but he gave some critical minutes off the bench against a fast and athletic Team Penny squad. Choul’s great length and athleticism was a perfect neutralizer, and he cam up with some timely and crucial buckets from rebounds and tip-ins to aid his team to the title.
