It’s very evident that the kid is a coach’s son (Bobby Sandquist), and he made it very clear when we spoke after the game that he wants to be among the best shooters in the state. He’s well on his way.
2018 Zach Kluver, 6′ G, Kingdom Hoops Red 16U
Ankeny Centennial junior-to-be has a nice build and uses that to get into the lane, absorb contact and finish. He can also put the ball on the deck. He’ll be an impact player next season.
2018 Rashon Ivory, 5’10 PG, Kingdom Hoops Red 16U
The younger brother of 2016 superstar Shammond Ivory, Rashon is developing very nicely as a he heads into his upperclassmen years. He’s got a killer crossover, and made what was maybe the most improbable of all finishes I saw today at the rim during the morning sessions.
2018 Zaine Leedom, 6’5 SF, Iowa Intensity 16U
He’s one of the best 2018’s in Iowa, and he’s the leader and best player on one of Iowa’s surprise 16U teams of the summer. He was utterly sensational on the defensive end, using immense length plus some nice hops to swat shot-after-shot while leading his team to a Sweet 16 berth.
2018 Brevin Hansen, 5’10 SG, Iowa Intensity 16U
Sharpshooting junior-to-be has one of the more pure strokes in the state. And will be a light’s out shooter the next two seasons for Lynnville-Sully.
2017 Trey Buchanan, 5’11 PG, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
He’s a bit out of our jurisdiction but he lives just across the Mississippi River and we’ve written about him before so we’ll do it again. He’s been the best player on maybe the best 17U team in Iowa this weekend. An aggressive and uncanny playmamker who should at least be getting some low-major Division I looks.
2017 Drew Maschoff, 6’4 G, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
He played good all day and great at times during his team’s march to the Elite 8. He was the clutch guy down the stretch in the Sweet 16 win over MBA Flight, and he scored 15 points — including a ton of 2H points — in his team’s first round bracket win.
2017 Charley Crowley, 6’8 PF, Kingdom Hoops Elite 17U
One Division I coach told me he was the best player on the floor for Kingdom Hoops 17U during the first half of their win over Lock Down Elite — a game in which he scored 15 points. He was Charley-hustle today, getting offensive rebounds, diving for loose balls, and out-toughing his opponents. He should see a slew of additional offers (Quincy) roll-in during the coming weeks.
