Nunge Making Plans For Fall
It wasn’t a surprise at all that Castle’s Jack Nunge made the Indiana All-Star team this year. He’s been as solid as they have come and he’s been garnering the kind of attention in his recruiting that goes along with the All-Star selection. However, this is his final summer and then he knows he is going to start narrowing things down.
First up, figuring out where to take official visits. Jack said on Wednesday night that one of those schools is likely going to be Iowa. The Hawkeyes are a team with interest and the style of play would be a big fit for him. Jack showed in his All-Star game that an uptempo, open system is one that he can play in and Iowa has shown their ability to play like that. Players like Dom Uhl, Aaron White, and Jarrod Uthoff have all thrived in this system and that could be a draw for Jack.
First, he’s going to finish up this July with Pocket City 2017. He had a good start with 13 points in a close loss to Cincy Lakers to open up the Adidas Invitational.
Easley Showing Focus In First Round
There have been plenty of great examples of how a solid first week in July can spur a recruitment for the Senior class. That is also the case with the Juniors as well. On Wednesday, 2018 wing Kevin Easley got things going quickly as he could with a 23-point outburst in a close loss to Nashville Celtics 17U. His George Hill Rising Stars 16U team was playing up but looked comfortable against the next level of competition.
Easley was a lot more focused and locked in than we saw him much of the spring. His shot was falling and he was going straight up and down on his jumpers rather than fading away as much. He was also pretty active on the boards on both ends. His energy seemed renewed and he was the best player on the floor next to his teammate Antwaan Cushingberry. If he can use this as a springboard, his stock could be one that makes a big jump come next Monday.
McMillian A Favorite Among Coaches
Each day during July you can really get a common vibe for how has really stood out. Tonight, the name at the end of the night that was the biggest might have been Merrillville’s Mileek McMillian. The 6’7 forward is playing this month with Indiana Elite Magic and on Wednesday he looked the part of a prospect ready to get some offers.
While more of a back-to-the-basket guy, Mileek can show a little face-up game and play basically everywhere on the floor. However, his game depends a lot upon his motor, length, and strength. He has a great frame, although a little short. He’s really done well since even this spring at showing some creativeness in his scoring. He had a solid jump hook, rebound putbacks, and knocked down a triple. Mileek is a kid with upside and coaches walked away impressed.
