Continue ReadingQuite a bit has happened in the past month including a few 2016 recruits still deciding and taking visits. Here is a list of happenings over the past few weeks. Summer Leagues and Team Camps have wrapped up or will be soon meaning it’s time for July open periods followed by camps.
- Quentin Scott (6’6 F, Ellender, 2016) took visits to South Florida, Tulsa, and Providence and is headed to Southern Miss tomorrow. He’s got a few D1 offers and is considering a reclassification to 2017 while playing for Louisiana Elite 17u on the UA Association Circuit where teams want to watch.
- Matthew Williams (6’7 F, Zachary, 2015) spent last year at Reno Prep in Nevada and is headed to Merritt CC in Oakland for the next two years. He’ll have some serious suitors once he’s done there as a player who can play either forward spot.
- Cedric Russell (6’3 G, Peabody, 2017) has a long list of offers he recently told us about: VCU, La Tech, LSU, Murray St, NC State, Wyoming, Houston, Manhattan, Baylor, UAB, and Tulane. Arkansas and Texas Tech has been coming strong lately as well. He’s working on the transition to the one.
- New Orleans Wolves will play New Orleans Elite this weekend at Xavier at 2 PM in the NOLA League that features coaches / sponsors such as former New Orleans area stars Greg Monroe and Bo McCalebb.
- Javonte Smart (6’5 PG, Scotlandville, 2018) has been starting for Team USA 17u in their 4-0 start thus far in the 17u World Championships.
- LSUA got another big signing earlier this month when one of the top unsigned bigs in the state Javante Walker (6’7 F, St. Martinville, 2016) signed. Makes back to back players from St. Martinville for the Generals.
- Brandon Rachal (6’6 G/F, Natchitoches Central, 2017) made the decision to play just basketball from here on out. He’s drawing big time interest from Power Five schools as one of the top defenders in the country.
