The Grinnell forward is not hidden from us, we know how good the junior-to-be is. But he’s still flying under the radar as far as his recruitment.
It could be a breakout summer summer for the rangy 6-foot-5 wing.
“Briar Cliff is the only school that has been sending me stuff at all,” said Leedom.
“I’m hoping that some of these tournaments that we go to I can keep playing at the level I’ve been playing, and the level that you guys have seen me play at. And hopefully some coaches will see me and have something good to say about it.”
Leedom says his best skill is getting to the rim, and he uses that ability to generate some confidence for himself in-game.
“Whenever I’m on the floor I think the first priority is getting to the rim for an easy look, because once I see that first shot go it helps me out throughout the whole game,” said the guard/forward hybrid
“I like to call myself a guard, but for my team I play a forward position. I think I’ll probably become more of a guard at the next level.”
This offseason Leedom is playing with a very talented Iowa Intensity 16U squad. He and his team have been turning heads so far this spring.
“I just try to keep the ball moving and try and get to the hoop, and if I can’t score there then I usually have open shooters all-around. Everyone on that team can shoot, so it’s nice to have that option to be able to kick it out to anyone and know that there’s a good chance the shot will go in,” said Leedom, who is eager to get back with his Intensity guys this July.
“Once we start those tournaments (July live period) I just want to go out during those games and just pretend like it’s any other game. I think if we move the ball around and keep playing like we did during the spring, than we’ll be alright.”
