Gone are three scholarship-level graduated seniors in Ade Murkey, Aage Rovney and Trenton Krueger as well as some other senior pieces. Left are 2018 wing Garett Maag and 2017 forward Jamaris Johnson, who will have to take on a great deal of responsibility on both ends.
“As a team we lose a lot of pieces, and this year I really have to step up as the leader offensively and defensively,” Johnson told NHR, “but I think we will be able to continue the success of last year’s team. It will be different being the teams main option, but I’m ready.”
Jamaris is a 6-foot-5 forward who is best right now at attacking the hoop and defending with his length. His outside shooting needs work, but he is working on tuning that up this summer.
“I’ve been talking with Upper Iowa, St. Scholastica, Concordia-Wisconsin, Bethany Lutheran, Minot State and Sioux Falls has invited me to their elite camp. Summer has been going well, I’ve been working on my game almost every day. The NHR State Tournament went pretty well for my first tournament after recovering from injury.”
The only visit planned for Johnson right now is Upper Iowa if he attends its elite camp.
“The most important things to me about a college will be the relationship with the coaching staff and the team, and the education… I want to go somewhere with my major.”
MN Select Ohnstad will play in Milwaukee next week beginning July 6th.
