Continue ReadingGabe Kalscheur is the third leading scorer on the top team in the EYBL (the Howard Pulley Panthers) and has recently earned a couple scholarship offers reflecting his status as a top performer for both Howard Pulley and the state champion DeLaSalle Islanders.
Howard Pulley is 14-2 in the EYBL through four events and they have won three other tournaments to go along with their EYBL success to give them a 32-2 record overall.
“This spring has been great, playing up with Howard Pulley,”Kalscheur said. “What has really helped my game is the competition I’ve been playing against. That and the situations I’ve been put in involving injuries and that making me step up to the task at hand.”
Gabe is scoring eight points a contest with three boards as a 2018 at the 17 and Under highest level. More than half of his field goal attempts have come at the arc in EYBL play where he is shooting 34 percent through 16 games.
Going forward this summer playing at Badger team camp and in the Peach Jam, as well as second and third open weekend events with the Panthers, Kalscheur wants to do more off the bounce and make an even bigger impact defensively for a Pulley defense that has been outstanding.
“I would like to improve attacking open gaps and communicating more on defense,” Gabe said.
Gabe is coming off a winter where he was the second leading scorer and third leading rebounder and assist man for the Class AAA state champion DeLeSalle Islanders. He averaged 19.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and a couple assists a night.
Watching him close throughout the winter and into EYBL play has been the Minnesota Gophers who extended a scholarship to Gabe this week. Shortly after the offer Gabe told us the following;
“I was very blessed and thankful and excited to receive the offer from Coach (Richard) Pitino and Minnesota,” Kalscheur said.
Gabe also recently picked up an offer from Northern Iowa.
