Francis Okoro (Normal West)
Okoro transferred to Normal West from out of state in the middle of the year and didn’t play this season. We had heard quite a bit of buzz about him and he lived up to the hype when we saw him this spring with the St. Louis Eagles. He has a wide shouldered and physical body. Tremendous strength in his upper body. Rebounded at a high rate snatching them out of the air and starting the break the other way. Won tons of 50/50 balls. Really hit the offensive glass well. As an offensive player showed some skill with some quick spin moves on the interior and finished through contact every time he went up. Free throw stroke looks good with a lot of arc and can even hit a 15 foot jumper. Defensively he was a monster with his length blocking and altering shots. Without a doubt is the leading contender for the top spot in the 2019 rankings when they debut post summer.
Ciaran Brayboy (New Trier)
Brayboy is a post in the class of 2019 with a lot of potential. The New Trier 6’8” center has legit size, strength, and length for the five position. He plays physical with his back to the basket and rebounds around his area. Definitely one to watch going forward as he has emerged with the Mac Irvin Fire.
Spencer Boehm (New Trier)
Boehm is a skilled and tough four man that is crafty on the interior shooting a high percentage from the field. Don’t underestimate his athleticism though as he can get up above the rim for slams as well. He has mobility around the hoop which allows him to be a solid rebounder in and out of his area. Range stretches out to the perimeter where he can knock down a jump shot. Intriguing post to track.
