Top 10 Shuffle
No. 2 Devontae Lane (Iowa City West)
After a remarkable summer last season while playing with the Barnstormers 16U, he is off to a fast start this spring as a 17U player. He looks to us a like a mid-major guard a minimum, and could see some high-major offers roll-in before summer’s end.
No. 6 Douglas Wilson (Hoover)
A guy discovered in the very first tournament we covered back in April of 2014. Back then he was a lanky 6-foot-3 freshman playing with Ambition. He’s risen in each rankings we’ve put out since, and now he’s a high-rising 6-foot-6 power forward on the verge of picking up some Division I offers while playing with King Hoops Elite
No. 9 Abe Kinrade (Maquoketa)
Great height paired with plus length and an ever-increasing skill-set have earned this 6-foot-6 wing two Division I offers (Army, North Dakota) since spring started. That’s enough to bump him into 2017’s top-10.
Other Notable Risers
Ryan Van Wyk (Pella) — from 26 to 19
It’s become evident since the spring started that the Pella wing is a top-20 player in the class. He is able to beat you off the dribble, and will use deceiving strength and great height to score at the rim.
Charley Crowley (Valley) — from 43 to 21
He’s at times been one of the best players on maybe the best 17U team in the state, and is getting it done on both ends of the floor. Sparking runs with his defense, and playing confidently on offense.
Ben Juhl (Des Moines Christian) — from 50 to 27
He made a huge leap in the last rankings all the way up to 50, and now he makes another considerable bump into the top 30. We call him the lethal-lefty – his an elite shooter. And his quickness and basketball IQ make him one of 2017’s best.
Grant Kramer (Johnston) — from 98 to 29
Stephen Glenn (Grand View Christian) — from 90 to 36
Tirique Randolph (Davenport Central) — from 58 to 37
Dawson Jones (Johnston) — from 72 to 38
Atticus Taylor (Davenport North) — from 176 to 50
Kyle Lang (Mason City) — from 83 to 53
