“So far I’m very happy with how it’s gone,” Alex said of the year with the Fury. “This month is the first time I’ve played a real game since last July (shoulder surgery) so it’s awesome to be back on the court.
“My teammates have done a great job in practice going game speed which I feel has really helped me get back into game flow more quickly. My shot is feeling better than it ever has and so far I think this spring has gone really well. That being said, we are still working hard in practice and looking to improve.”
Alex is one of the strongest guards in the state at 6-foot-3 and definitely one of the best defenders. After being off for so long there is much he wants to improve on to get ready for his senior year.
“I want to improve on being slower in the half court and putting more pressure on the guy guarding me,” Strazzanti explained. “By doing this it should lead to better looks for both me and my teammates.
“Over the winter and spring I felt like I have improved my jumper a lot as well as my IQ. Being able to watch a lot of games has allowed me to pick up on things that you wouldn’t normally think about.”
Alex is hearing from a load of schools about playing college football or college basketball. Which will it be? He doesn’t know but it seems like there could be potential options to many places.
“For basketball I’ve heard from Upper Iowa, Bemidji State, Sioux Falls, Carleton, and Southwest Minnesota State,” Alex said. “I went to a St. Thomas game over the winter and was invited to the Colgate and many other Elite camps this summer.
“For football I’ve heard from Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Missouri, UNI, Miami (OH), NDSU, SDSU, UND and Western Illinois. Also I have been hearing a lot from Patriot/Ivy league schools like Colgate, Columbia, Brown, Yale, Princeton and Holy Cross.
“For college I want a high academic place that still has a good college feel and I would like to study something in the business field as of now.”
Alex and the Fury are playing at state next weekend and he wants to win that event and the next four he is playing in after that.
“Individually my main goal is to receive multiple scholarships but as a team I believe we should be playing for the championship of every tournament from here on out.
“We have great coaches and a lot of talent on this team to make it happen. If we play how we are capable of playing I believe we can hang with/beat any team in the nation.”
Alex scored 8-9 a game for Chaska as a sophomore and will have a huge role for them as a senior.
