Timmy Allen 6’4” SF Desert Ridige (Compton Magic 17U)
Allen is the most productive player on this list. The 6’4” wing scores it at a very high level and does it almost effortlessly. He just understands how to put the ball in the basket. He took a big jump from his freshman to sophomore year in terms of athleticism and mobility by shedding some pounds. If he continues to improve his quickness and explosiveness then he can, again, take his game to the next level solidifying him as a legit high major threat.
Steele Bennett 6’10” PF Desert Vista (Arizona Power Factory)
Bennett has made huge strides from his freshman to sophomore year, especially this spring. The 6’10” prospect looks a lot more comfortable on the floor. His ability is finally beginning to catch up to his size. He’s got soft hands, passes it well, and has touch that extends in range. If he can continue to add strength, play with more balance, and continue to develop his interior footwork he’s got a chance to play at a very high level.
KJ Hymes 6’8” PF St. Mary’s (Las Vegas Prospects 17U)
Hymes is a skilled forward with some versatile abilities. After playing in a reserve role as a freshman he took on one of the go to roles his his sophomore season for the Knights. He can step out on the perimeter and make shots or short drives and has become more aggressive around the rim. Continuous improvement on his body and explosiveness will help him grow as a prospect.
Jok Jok 6’7” SF Moon Valley (Powerhouse Black)
Jok Jok is probably, currently, the furthest away from reaching his potential in terms of guys on this list but he’s a player with a lot of tools and great upside. At 6’7” he has extremely long arms and moves very fluidly. He is outstanding running the wing in transition and has a solid skill level with the ball in the open court. Jok is very thin at the moment so adding strength is a must. He must also learn to be more productive in the halfcourt. It’s almost certain that the Moon Valley swingman will be a late bloomer but don’t be surprised when he has some dominating games late into his high school career.
Tevy Jones 6’6” SF Chandler (California Supreme)
Jones is a player who is just beginning to tap into his potential. The 6-foot, 6-inch wing had a very solid season at Chandler this year, leading the Wolves in scoring or rebounding throughout numerous contests throughout the year. He’s a very good set shooter and finish above the rim. Continued improvement on his ball handling will only elevate his stock. He has all the tools to be a high major guy.
