PF Race Thompson (D1 Minnesota 16U)
Was really impressed with what the 6’7” power forward brought to the table. Naturally strong build as I was told he doesn’t even lift weights, but is very strong. He also has solid length. Thompson was powerful finishing around the hoop with several thunderous slams. He positions his body sealing and punishes defenders. Moves well for his size even handling it a little in transition. Soft touch on free throw. Didn’t shoot it from mid-range much. Similar in a way to former Minnesota prep standout Reid Travis. Needs to be on HM/MM radar in 2018.
SF Jarvis Thomas (D1 Minnesota 16U)
This 6’6” small forward exploded at Battle of the Lakes literally! He caught multiple monster alley-oops. Had one impressive dunk over several guys. The small forward is an elite athlete with length and is great in transition both handling it weaving in and out of defenders as well finish over the top. Bouncy wing showed some skill passing it especially on the interior. Quick second jump. Perimeter shot needs refinement. All the tools you could ask for defensively. Should be on HM/MM watch lists!
SF Shae Mitchell (D1 Minnesota 16U)
Long and athletic 6’6” small forward that is very projectable long term. Best in transition game as a finisher. Pretty raw offensively in the half court and isn’t a great shooter. Like what he brings to the table defensively guarding on the perimeter and hitting the defensive boards. Potential at the D1 level.
PG Anthony Davis (D1 Minnesota 16U)
Uber athletic scoring combo guard. Tough scoring around the hoop getting there with his tremendous speed and change of direction. Also can get up in transition for finishes.
SG Sam Ingoli (Iowa Elite 16U)
Ingoli is a power guard that gets in the lane and to the foul line. Handles it well in traffic. Quality strength. D2 prospect.
SF Joe Wieskamp (Iowa Barnstormers 16U)
The Iowa Hawkeyes 2018 commit is quite impressive with his combination of size, strength, athleticism, and skill. He checks a lot of boxes off. Blessed with great size he can see over the defense and get his jump shot off from pretty much anywhere on the floor. Plus three point shooter. Also scores off the bounce with spins in the lane. Rebounds well for position particularly on the offensive end. Top 50 national talent.
PG AJ Green (Iowa Barnstormers 16U)
High IQ point guard that runs the show. Gets others involved, but can also really score. Great shooter from both mid-range and three. Pure mechanics and stops and pops on a dime. Low to mid-major prospect.
G Lamar Norman (1Nation 16U)
The 6’0” 2018 combo guard from Michigan put on a show! He is just a born scorer with his ability to get buckets in a variety of ways. The rising junior is quick in the open floor using his speed to push it where he accelerates to the rim. Gets in the lane and to the hoop with ease. Can hit an occasional three. Creative passer with the ball showing combo guard potential. Active hands defensively. He currently has no offers. Without question he is a mid-major talent and possibly high-major before it is all over with.
F Markese Hastings (1Nation 16U)
Hastings stands at 6’5” with a projectable body. The bouncy combo forward is best running the floor and finishing in transition. Gets on the glass and flashes post moves every now and then.
PG PJ Mitchell (1Nation 16U)
Quick lead guard that is committed to Central Michigan. At 5’9” he pushes it in transition and is a solid three point shooter.
PG Jordan McCabe (Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16U)
One of the most fun players to watch in the Midwest. Plays very much like white chocolate Jason Williams from back in the day. Slick ball handler that jukes and jives defenders out of their shoes with his ball handling. Streaky shooter from three, but can definitely connect. Elite vision as a passer. Mid-major prospect in the 2018 class with his lack of height.
SG Tyler Herro (Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16U)
Herro was solid, not spectacular in the game we saw. Plus jump shooter with great size. Jumper wasn’t falling down like it usually does. Moves without the ball to get open. Handles better than we thought against pressure. High major prospect.
PF Matthew Hurt (D1 Minnesota 17U)
At 6’9” Hurt has all the tools as a 2019 prospect to be special as a face up four man. He is playing up two age levels and doesn’t miss a beat. Hurt is a thinly built post that will definitely need to add strength moving forward, but he has plenty of time for that. His skill level is off the charts with his ability to hit pull up jumpers and feel around the hoop. Defensively his length causes so many problems as he blocks shot after shot. No doubt high major and potential 5-star nationally in 2019.
