Phoenix Phamily had a rough weekend, finishing 1-3 in this weekend’s EYBL session. After two close losses and one distant one, they finished the weekend strong with a win over the Arkansas Wings. Marvin Bagley finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Also, while not playing with an Arizona-based program, Alex Barcello had quite the weekend. While he struggled against a Tremont Waters-led Expressions Elite, he was able to average 22.3 points in his other three games. Alex played the majority of the weekend off the ball in more of a scoring role than distributing. While his numbers weren’t great, 6’8” St. Mary’s sophomore KJ Hymes had a solid showing with Las Vegas Prospects. He’s length and versatility was on display and he showed grit and toughness that has been questioned in the past. Fun fact: Hymes is teaming with former Knights teammate Marcus Shaver. Shaver is currently averaging just under 7 points and 4 assists for the Prospects.
Both Arizona Power Factory groups had very solid showings at the Pangos Terrific 24. Things started smooth as both the 17s and 16s finished undefeated with three wins in pool play. However, both teams were eliminated in the first round of the tournament. Dre Marin and Malik Ondigo both had standout performances, however.
