Moore Can Bring Some Firepower.
The class of 2019 in Indiana is only just getting started but Park Tudor (IN) / G3 Rising Stars guard Isiah Moore can sure light it up. Will be interesting to see how he develops as a point guard but offensively he can bring a ton of different weapons and some potent shooting from beyond the arc. The 5’10 prospect lit up Indy Hoyas in the morning session at Nike Indy Live. He hit from three, pull-ups in the mid-range, and was able to get out in transition.
Moore isn’t a guy that was asked to do a ton during his high school season but he really filled the role of perimeter shooter off the ball to a T. Now, he’s being allowed to do everything offensively and his game is starting to take shape. He has some areas he is going to have to work on but you are going to see him average near 20 this summer with some dips into the 30-point range.
Hunter Continuing His Ascent
There aren’t going to be a ton of high-end 2018 prospects in the state. It isn’t a big class at the top-end but you obviously have the Kevin Easley and Romeo Langford. In that top group, Eric Hunter continues to proved he belongs there. The Gary Harris Elite 2018 guard is one of the better scorers in the state and did well today with a 33-point showing on 7 three-pointers in a loss. Against better teams, Harris still shows that he can be a dominant scoring threat with his ability to shoot. He’s really going to add strength while still being in that “Kyle Guy” body type. However, he’s got room to grow still as a lead guard and a mid-range scorer. If he can continue to add to those other aspects of his game, the path that he is on should continue to stick and he’ll be a guy that colleges come in to see.
New Names Keep Coming Up On The Radar
While this week is about seeing the best and the brightest on the biggest stage, I’m still trying to find those guys who are about to have big impacts down the road. A couple names came up again today that I wanted to touch on. First up, Gavin Bizeau. The 6’9 forward picked up his first offer last weekend and I got to check him out today. He’s coming along nicely. Nowhere even close to a finished prospect but still very much skilled. He was assertive today and doesn’t shy away from much even though he’s more of a finesse guy.
I also liked what I saw out of Akuei Mading. He’s a 6’5 wing from Indianapolis International playing for Indiana Elite Central 2018. He’s a very raw player but fluid in his motions and has shown a solid jumper. Will probably be recruited on the lower end but as far as a guy that not many have seen, he’s one of note that has enough upside to make coaches very intrigued as they move forward throughout this summer.
Trevor Lakes continues to perform well in every game I see. Not necessarily the best player every game but a guy that doesn’t seem to have a bad game during this stretch. The 6’7 forward is a wing shooter with obvious size and great touch. He ripped off a few today in a Grassroots Indiana 2017 Blue loss this morning but was probably the biggest contributor on offense. Defensively, Lakes is fine as he can defend post players but is a tough matchup on the wing.
