“I wish I could have helped make more of an impact on the team,” he told PHI, “but I averaged around 10 points a game.”
Ingoli, a 6-foot-4 guard, averaged 9.7 points on 48.3 percent shooting during his sophomore campaign in which he was the Maroons’ third-leading scorer as they made it to the first round of the Class 4A state tournament. He shot 38.5 percent from 3-point range and 71.1 percent from the line while also leading the team in assists.
“It’s more of mentally you have to bring it every game,” Ingoli said of his transition to varsity. “You can’t just walk on the floor and have a great game. You’ve got to bring it mentally every game
“I worked hard every game, it was more that I got way more comfortable toward the middle of the year. I had a really good second half of the season.”
He played with Iowa Elite last weekend in the spring’s first NCAA live period at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza, where he excelled playing mostly point guard minutes.
“A lot of schools are looking”, Ingoli, who holds a North Dakota offer, said, “so I’m excited for that. Hopefully I can get invited to more elite camps after this spring so I can go to some elite camps and impress some college coaches.”
Ingoli, who said he will play some with the Iowa Barnstormers this spring and summer, plans to attend Drake’s elite camp with North Dakota, Northern Iowa and Stanford also possibilities at this time.
“Just have to see how this live period goes,” he said.
