Things are looking up for the Eagles. Kreuser will be back as a senior as well double figure averaging junior Nathan Kavolak and sophomore point guard Charlie Jacob plus guard Zach Ban also returns.
So the future is likely bright for the Eagles. For the time being Kreuser is just getting things going during the Grassroots year playing with Minnesota Fury Kallman. The team is coming off an event championship at the Spring Jam in Sioux Falls.
“I am very excited about the rest of the season,” Rocky said about his first three weeks with the Fury. “I was disappointed after we went 2-2 in St. Cloud because I knew we were better than what we played. Now we are playing a lot better basketball the past two tournaments.”
Kreuser is skilled and tough which makes him a tough match-up at forward. He wants to get better as a ball handler as well.
“I would like to see myself get better at taking people to the rim off the dribble. I think I have improved my post moves and post control over the winter. I would also like to improve on my on ball defense on the perimeter.
“I want to continue to grow and develop as an individual player, work on my game and get better. I also want my team to continue to play well. Hopefully we can win some more championships along the way.”
Also along the way he is likely to have a few more programs offer scholarships. The first to do so was Sioux Falls.
“I was shocked at first,” Rocky said when he received the USF offer. “I didn’t really know what to think or do. When Coach Johnson told me, my jaw dropped.
“I don’t think the actual scholarship feeling set in until the ride home, but once it did, I couldn’t stop smiling. I think they run a great program. I got to meet a couple of the players and they seemed like great young men and athletes.”
USF isn’t the only team following him either.
“University of Sioux Falls, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Southwest Minnesota State University, and a couple MIAC schools,” Rocky said of those showing interest. “I have visited the NSIC schools just not this month.”
