Kris Wilkes, the top rated prospect in the state for the Class of 2017 by Prep Hoops Indiana, said he will take his first official visit to UCLA after taking the SAT in May and is likely to cut his list down before his senior year begins.
“I’m thinking about cutting it down from who offered me by the end of this summer and (I’ll make a final decision) by no later than end of the school year next year,” he said.
The 6-foot-7 forward offers a plethora skills to go along with the long list of schools talking to him. He has heard from UCLA, Kansas, Maryland, Indiana, Butler, Xavier, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State and more. He says he is likely to take an official visit to Maryland as well, but hasn’t decided on the final three schools for official visits or exactly when he will take them. He has taken unofficial visits to schools near his Indianapolis home, and likely won’t take official visits to them.
“Not trying to disrespect the Indiana schools, but I’ve already been down to them, so probably use the official visits to go to schools farther away,” Wilkes said.
For now, he’s looking to continue improving his overall game playing with the UA Indy Hoosiers during the summer AAU season as he gets to join back up with some friends he competed against all high school season.
“It’s good because I’ve been playing against these guys the whole season and merging back with them is nice,” Wilkes said. “Been playing with them for a long time, we got good chemistry.
