PG Milton Wordlow III (Yanders Law) Hales – 2017
Milton started the week of with his first offer from Chicago State and continued the good news with several double digit scoring efforts leading his team in scoring in every game this weekend. Very quick with the ball Wordlow has a good first step and pull up jump shot. So good he can get it off anytime he wants to. Milton made sure he left his mark this weekend with a game winning layup over Grand Rapids. He’s a special talent that has certainly come into his own and his stock will continue to grow in the next few months.
PG Teyvion Kirk (AIA/Y&R) Joliet West – 2017
Kirk had a huge weekend in Dallas. The slender PG was very consistent at creating for himself and for his teammates. Kirk does a lot of things well. His change of pace with the ball slows down defenders which helps him dictate the pace and what he wants to do. Teyvion scored in the paint as well as found shooters on the perimeter and his bigs around the rim. His length causes havoc on defense as he really took his game to another level this weekend. Kirk will have the offers to show how good he playing.
SF Nana Akenten (Celtics/Hoopers) Bolingbrook – 2017
Akenten is one of the toughest players to guard on the NY2LA circuit. His size and skill set is mismatch waiting to happen every game. He didn’t shoot it so well on Friday but he made up for it the next day with his 17 point performance in a loss to OSA. He went 7 for 11 for the game netting three 3 pointers in the process. Nana is athletic and has a frame ready for college. Once he adds muscle he can become a standout. Nana should also gain some more offers after a pretty good personal weekend.
SG Drew Evans (Lockdown) Thornwood – 2016
Drew is just an aggressive player who you can plug in many spots and he will make it work. He is a physically mature player that pushes the ball smart and uses his body control well when attacking the basket. Evans seemed to make an impact on every play in his games whether it was rebound, guard, or just be a bully on the inside. He did a little bit of everything. He was close to double doubles in several games this weekend. He is still looking for the right college choice.
PG Devin Whitelow (Illinois Irish) Washington – 2107
The quick and talented guard was exciting in a win over SYF. Devin is one of the top passers on the circuit already. When he wants he can also score and is very crafty at getting around bigger defenders and zone defenses. Whitelow is the key to the Irish offense. His play this weekend should earn some attention from smaller D1 schools looking for a lead guard.
F Jameel Alausa (AIA/ Y&R) U-High Chicago – 2017
Alausa is another who started the week off with offers from colleges (Yale, Princeton). His play shows why he has the whole Ivy League intrigued. Jameel is a long an athletic forward who plays above the rim mostly, but is showing the coaches he has worked on his wing skills. Alausa was able to push the ball in transition and made some plays from above the arc. Jameel had a great weekend leading his team in rebounding and block shots. He is a well-rounded player who will continue to get Ivy League looks.
PF Connor Niego (Lockdown) Lyons – 2017
Niego made some solid plays on Saturday. He was very active around the rim and showed some skill and touch in the post. Connor has seemed to added a go to move when on the block. A nice catch and spin that seems to work every-time he touched the ball. He’s also equipped to become a really good pick and pop guy at the next level. Niego plays on a balanced team now but can see how he will continue to become a prospect once the high school season comes back around.
PG Tai Bibbs (Mercury Elite) West Chicago – 2017
Tai was huge in this weekend’s turnaround of his team’s fortune. He elevated his scoring and play making ability. Bibbs a skilled guard with good size. He just has a silky smoothness to his game that catches teams off guard. He never seems to be phased by anything happening around him. Tai’s shot looked good especially his pull up 15 foot jumper. Look for some mid major schools to get in on him.
