17U Purple
Head coach: Ryan Kelly
Roster
6-0 Tyler Voves, Linn-Mar
6-1 Dylan Hand, Linn-Mar
6-1 Alex Kitzmann, Pleasant Valley
5-10 Matthew Myers, Barneveld (WI)
6-2 Connor Gholson, Newton
6-4 Nate Disterhoft, Iowa City West
6-2 Brant DeMuelenaere, Belle Plaine
6-0 Kolbie Barnes, Iowa City High
6-2 Tirique Randolph, Davenport Central
6-7 Niko Gosnell, Lone Tree
6-4 Jack Moore, Oskaloosa
Notes: This year’s Mavericks group doesn’t have quite the star power that last year’s did (Riley Till, David Wedewer, Beau Klostermann, etc.), but there is still some quality talent on the roster. Newton sharpshooter Connor Gholson will be looking to build off a strong junior season, pairing with Pleasant Valley point guard Alex Kitzmann in a solid backcourt. Tirique Randolph (Davenport Central) is a strong, physical combo guard with the ability to get hot from the perimeter or bully his way to the rim. Jack Moore (Oskaloosa) is a nice looking combo wing who can score in a variety of ways. And Niko Gosnell (Lone Tree) will be looking to further develop his interior game after a big growth spurt before the high school season. There are plenty of interesting pieces on this Mavericks team that Division II, NAIA and Division III programs should be looking at.

17U Orange
Head coach: Alex Huisman
Roster
5-9 Garrett Rickels, Calamus-Wheatland
5-10 Dylan Clearman, Bettendorf
5-10 Izaya Fullard, Iowa City West
6-4 Alex Martens, Midland, Wyoming
6-3 Seth Moeller, Clinton, Prince of Peace
6-3 Lowden Rockweiler, Decorah
6-3 Trevor Wurzer, Sumner-Fredericksburg
6-6 Kaleb Haeffner, Danville
6-6 Spencer Heyer, West Union
6-7 Dre’ Presswood, Dubuque Senior
Notes: A number of smaller school players lead the 17U Orange team, with Danville big man Kaleb Haeffner the center piece. A well-built post with good footwork, he’ll be looking to prove himself against tough competition this summer. Alex Martens (Midland, Wyoming) is coming off a 20-point a game season and is capable of scoring from anywhere on the floor. This group will be lead by the guard tandem of Garrett Rickels (Calamus-Wheatland) and Dylan Clearman (Bettendorf). Izaya Fullard will split time between this team and Iowa City West baseball, but he figures to be an important piece when he’s there.

16U Purple
Head coach: Miguel Villagrana
Roster
5-10 Justin Blackman, Dubuque Senior
5-10 Griffen Clark, Cedar Rapids Prairie
5-9 Noah Schlader, Charles City
6-1 Drew Olson, Osage
6-3 Lucas Schwamman, Osage
5-10 Nick Bockman, Decorah
6-0 Balene Mitchell, Bettendorf
6-6 Peter Timmerman, Dubuque Wahlert
6-4 Bailey Arwine, Lisbon
6-8 Cole Eischeid, Carroll Kuemper
Notes: The backcourt figures to be the strength of this group, with Justin Blackman (Dubuque Senior) and Drew Olson (Osage) leading the charge. Blackman is a small, but very quick, scoring guard who can score in bunches. Olson is coming off a solid sophomore year with Osage and can get hot from the arc. The true standout among this group, however, may be Lisbon wing Bailey Arwine. A long, versatile offensive threat, he can score both inside and out. This spring and summer will be a great chance for him to take his game to the next level. Cole Eischeid didn’t play much for a talented Kuemper team, but his size makes him intriguing.

16U Orange
Head coach: Trent Gosnell
Roster
5-10 Cole Martin, Linn-Mar
5-11 Ryan Carfagna, Linn-Mar
5-8 Tony Fortado, Warsaw (IL)
5-11 Spencer Touro, Benton Community
6-4 Jackson Gertsen, Linn-Mar
6-4 Mitch Towlerton, Linn-Mar
6-1 Casey Leeper, Cedar Falls
6-1 Reese Gardner, Cedar Falls
6-4 Mitch Gehling, Dyersville Beckman
Notes: Benton Community PG Spencer Touro leads the charge here, coming off a strong season with the Bobcats. This group is made up of a number of players from high-quality 4A teams (Linn-Mar, Cedar Falls) that didn’t see much playing time during the season, but are talented. This group has some decent size and a nice mix of players who can score both inside and out.

15U Purple
Head coach: Tyler Cleveland
Roster
5-8 Jack Kelly, Don Bosco
5-11 Luke Velky, Waverly-Shell Rock
5-10 Cortaviaus Seales, North Scott
6-2 Nathan Michels, Benton Community
5-10 Sam Gary, Cedar Falls
5-10 P.J. Rundquist, Wapsie Valley
5-9 Hunter Rickels, Calamus-Wheatland
5-9 Darnell Conner, Rock Island (IL)
6-0 C.J. Parker, Davenport Central
6-4 Mosai Newsom, Waverly-Shell Rock
Notes: This group is interesting because it features the younger brothers of a pair of players who were fantastic high school players in Luke Velky (Jake) and Cortaviaus Seales (Cortez and Corvon). If that duo is anything like their older siblings, this 15U group has the makings to be a very good team. There isn’t a ton of size on this roster, so they’ll likely be looking to push the tempo with their quality guard play. This should be a fun, up-tempo team to watch.

Head coach: Josh Weeber
Roster
5-10 Hunter Hartgrave, Cedar Rapids Xavier

5-10 Zac McLean, Anamosa
6-0 Luke Shockemoehl, Dubuque Wahlert

6-4 Nolan Schwarting, Clear Creek-Amana
6-2 Matt Walton, Anamosa
6-1 Tyler Russo, North Scott
6-1 Spencer Hoff, Janesville
6-3 Silver Schmitz, Union
Notes: A nice mix of players who can score inside and out with this group, they should be able to beat teams in a number of ways. Luke Shockemoehl leads the way for a group that we don’t know a whole lot about quite yet.
